I might be a little biased writing this as I’m waiting for the subway in the sweltering Columbus Circle station. But this should require very little selling on my part given the suffocating heat we’ve had to deal with in New York the past few days. 

PopBar in the West Village gives you just the right amount of cool down needed without having to feel the guilt of a couple scoops of ice cream that is so tempting in this mugginess. 
The gelato-based popsicles come in a variety of fruit flavors, from mango and banana to strawberry or coconut, and a full spectrum of other options like chocolate, vanilla, dulce de leche, almond, mint, gianduia, coffee and peanut butter. The list goes on.

Of course, you can make it more of an indulgence by dipping it in chocolate — your choice of milk, dark, white, hazelnut, even mint. Then there are the nuts — almond, pistachio, hazelnut and more — or popcorn or sprinkles.

My choice: pistachio, which they say is one of their bestsellers, with mint chocolate.

With more than 20 flavors to choose from, six dips and even more toppings, the permutations are pretty much endless.
