The Mason Jar

Not for the faint of heart, The Mason Jar‘s a joint you’d visit to  fully indulge in luscious barbeque and deliciously greasy carbs.

Kimmy got super-aromatic fried chicken and I got the mouth-watering braised short rib grilled cheese. The glistening, toasted bread is jam packed with juicy, fall-off-the-bone braised short ribs. And as if that wasn’t enough, it comes smothered in warm, gooey cheese.

The flavor is wonderfully intense in itself, but add a dribble of their Dr. Pepper barbeque sauce, and you’ll never want a plain old grilled cheese again.

Jay has the steak sandwich, which was equally flavorful. The fries were a bit salty, but also a great excuse to use more of their fantastic array of sauces.

The barbeque may not be as authentic as say Hill Country, but their second derivative offerings such as these sandwiches are just as good, and far more affordable.

It’s also a bit more of a sports bar scene, so for a venue a tad under the radar, I’d actually feel more inclined to come back to the Mason Jar instead of some of the fancy barbeque restaurants you’re starting to find all throughout Manhattan.
